Depends what features you're looking for, you might have to pay. I'm not aware of any free news modules (not to say there aren't any) apart from the Announcements module that should already be installed on your DNN 5 site. You can download the latest version from CodePlex http://dnnannouncements.codeplex.com/

Hi,

I used the Announcements module only briefly some time ago but I seem to remember it can do all that except I think it displays articles by x number of days and not x number of articles but you can set publish and expire dates to each article.

Not an obvious choice but the Blog module (should already be installed in DNN 5 or download from http://dnnblog.codeplex.com/) might be suitable for you and can display by x number of blogs.

With the Announcements module you create the detail page outside of the Announcements module (ie as a normal page), with the Blog module the detail page is added as part of the Blog entry.

You can get a rough idea as to how the Blog module looks and works (albeit customised) by going the Blog page on here http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Resources/Blogs.aspx

They are both free, so why not try them out?
