Hi,

I want to use 2 different menus. The main menu is an horizontal menu on the top of the page.

On child page, I have the main menu also and I want to add another menu (which is not related to the main menu) which is specific to the site. My problem when I add a menu, it duplicates the main menu items.

How can I make it different?

Note: dnn version 06.01.02

Thanks

A menu sounds like the wrong tool - a menu essentially is a list of pages in the site.

How do you want it different?  Maybe you just want a list of links?

The main menu allows me to navigate through the parent site and I want to add a menu on a child site which allows me to navigate within the child site.

The child site has many pages, instead of creating links and linking them to each page, I though it is better to have a menu.

That's why I need another menu.

Thanks.

Hi Eskinder,

Sorry but I'm confused. Any menu on a child portal should, by default, be picking up the child portal pages and not those of the main portal.

You say you are adding a menu, is this as a skin object or a module like the DDR Menu?

Can you provide links to both the main site and the child portal so that we can better understand the problem?

Hi,

my main menu is a skin object (AZ.DNNMenu)

........

<%@ Register TagPrefix="AZ" TagName="Menu" Src="/DesktopModules/AZ.DNNMenu/Menu.ascx" %>
<div id="ControlPanel"></div>
<table>
  <tr>
    <td  id="Logo" runat="server" align="left"><dnn:LOGO runat="server" id="dnnLOGO" /></td>
    <td  id="Search" runat="server" align="right"><dnn:SEARCH runat="server" id="dnnSEARCH" showWeb="False" ShowSite="False" /></td>
  </tr>
  <tr>
    <td  align="left" valign="top" class="MainMenuBar" id="MenuPane"><AZ:Menu ID="azNAV" runat="server" Template="Default" /></td>...................etc.

 I export the main menu from the parent site to the child site using Host / Site Management / Export Site Template and then Admin / Site wizard

 So I get the parent menu under all child sites. Now my problem starts here: when I tried to add a menu I get the parent's menu items. I want to separate the child menu from the parent menu. My parent menu is horizontal and my child menu is vertical. They should be independent. In different child site, I will have a different menu ( for eg. for Finance department I will have a finance related menu, for HR department I will have HR related menu).

Sorry, I can't provide you the link because I work in local network.

Thanks,
