Hi and a Happy New Year,

I'm trying to figure out how far I can work with categories. My project requires the following...

  • Seven categories of events, each to be managed by a dedicated role
  • Users can subscribe to reminders based on categories rather than single events

So for example, if I have a category called 'Oranges', events for this category can only be created by the 'Oranges Admin' role. This would be the same for 'Lemons', 'Apples' etc.

In addition if a user wants to receive email alerts, they need to be able to select these by category. So selecting 'Oranges' and 'Apples', will allow them to receive reminders about all events in those particular categories.

From reading around, I think I may be able to acheive the first point by using subcalendars, each with permissions set to my specific roles. However I'm at a loss how I might approach the second point.

Any ideas gratefully received.

Thanks in advance,

Will

You could allow them to subscribe on the sub-calendars, but I'm not sure it would be possible to do this via the master calendar.

Cheers
Roger

Hi Roger and thanks for your suggestion.

If that were the case, then the user would need to potentially view each of the seven sub-calendars in order to subscribe which may be a bit cumbersome. Ideally it would be great to offer a single subscription page with a checkbox against each category, however I guess this is not possible with the current module.

Best,

Will
