So, I got the source code for this module to build the .dll. It works in debug when I build and throw it onto the website however, when I switch to release I suddenly get "The name 'DotNetNuke' does not exist in the current context" as an error. Is there something I need to link to in DNN in order to compile this and get the .dll I need?

Since I downloaded the .cs files from the internet, no. How/where would I do that?

It's hard to tell how you've set your project. I would recommend Googling DNN Module development to get some tips. In this case, right mouse clicking on the project and adding a reference to the DotNetNuke.dll or setting up your project to run within your local DNN project would do it.

I was able to figure it out. Not used to working with Visual Web Dev, so that threw me into a loop.
