We have recently upgraded our website from 4.9.1 to 6.1.1 having copied over our modules from the old website, we have found that after installing them they don't appear. You just get a message saying 'Congratulations, You have successfully created your module. You can edit the source of the module control by selecting the View Source Action from the Action Menu.' I have tried a few different modules and the end result is the same.

Do I need to download the  Visual Studio library for ver 6.1.1 as I'm using the library for 4.9.1 at the moment, is that the problem?

Are you sure the modules installed correctly (you cannot simply copy over the files you need to install them so dotnetnuke can parse the dnn manifest file)

Did you do a new installation of 6.1.1 and then just migrate the files over, or did you upgrade the existing instance of DNN? Like Cathal said, you cannot just migrate the files to a different instance of DNN without either reinstalling the modules on the new site, or making sure that you performed an upgrade of the existing DotNetNuke instance.
