Hi,

We use dnn6.01. We will have more than 200 child sites. We are redesigning the old organization's site using dnn.

It is not online, We are  working locally (our local URL is something link http://10.xxx.xxx.01 dnn server URL.).

We create links form parent to children and child to child. We use Page Settings / Advanced Settings / Other Settings / A Link To An External Resource and write http://10.xxx.xxx.01/pagename. It works fine. My worry is when we go online, we have to change all the links http://10.xxx.xxx.01/pagename to http://organization.com/pagename.

In site settings or host settings, there is no  place (or form) to set the site URL).

My question is there a short way to redirect pages instead of writing all over again?

Thanks.

you could use the built in rewriting logic - see http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Resources/Wiki/Page/Siteurls.aspx . Alternatively ensure all your links are relative (e.g. src="/someimage.jpg") rather than absolute (e.g. src="http://mysite.com/someimage.jpg") and you dont have to worry about it

Hi,

actually my problem is not with modules (in which relative links work very well) but is with redirecting menus. When you use  Page Settings / Advanced Settings / Other Settings / A Link To An External Resource , you can not write relative links because dnn adds automatically http://. For example if my site is http://localhost/ednd/home.aspx (ednd is a child site) and if I remove http://localhost and write /ednd/home.aspx, the link will be transformed to http://ednd/home.aspx which is a wrong link.

Thanks.

I had a similar issue a while back where i ended editing the portal alias table and manually chaning the default portal alias in sql manager. It then seemed to update the host url which you can see in host settings.Currently i don't know of a way of editiing that maybe by adding a alais to the default portal and create a host file entry to test on your local desktop.
