Has anyone else had problems with sharing articles or content from a DNN site to Linkedin? Any suggested workarounds? I've tested all the third party DNN modules designed exclusively for article creation (e.g. Ventrian News Articles, DigArticle) and they all fail to work with Linkedin's article sharing URL scraper. They also fail to share with Linkedin using social bookmarking utlities like AddThis.

I contacted Linkedin several times over the last year and they said it was a problem with the way http requests are handled by DNN and have no current fix for the problem. This is a major problem for us and will hold up purchasing DNN Professional Edition until a fix is made.

what type of failure do you see (the http status will show in your IIS logs and it would be interesting to see if it was a 302/303/404)

The error doesn't occur on the DNN site, but in the Linkedin group. Essentially, the article link and title is converted to a simple link to our domain name (itspecialist.com), instead of containing the article title and URL. A link is indeed created in the Linkedin group, but if a user clicks on the link or URL it loops back to Linkedin instead of the article on our website.

The odd thing is, that a DNN job listing module that we have on our site will parse correctly with Linkedin and create a URL and job title that points to the job posting our site. So it has something to do with the way all of these article modules are forming their links, which by the way, are SEO friendly. Liinkedin simply cannot parse them correctly.

I spoke with the module vendors and they were absolutely clueless as to what is going wrong. Some hadn't even heard of Linkedin. :-)

Hi William, we might be able to have a look at the module you use and help you modify it if possible. We have rich experience in DNN and are able to work with LinkedIn API. Let me know if you are interested. Thanks!
