Hi Again!

I am trying to allow another user to create pages based on a page template. This template now works great for me, but when he tries, he gets a blank page insteaqd of a page following a template

I have set view and edit permissions for the pages he is creating under all the way up to the top menu level, but still, his new pages turn up blank.

Does anyone have any idea where i need to set permissions for him?

Site is DNN5.6.2 i think
his new page screen shows "copy from home" where mine says "none selected". "none selected" is not an available option for him.
the page template contains modules that are displayed on several pages

Many thanks,

John

Hi,

so i noticed this issue has been around for a while:
http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Resources/Forums/forumid/200/postid/362234/scope/posts.aspx

and here - http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Resources/Forums/forumid/0/threadid/362231/scope/posts.aspx

There is a bug logged,
http://support.dotnetnuke.com/issue/ViewIssue.aspx?ID=12227&PROJID=2

But I'm just unable to find a solution from googling, or any of my experimenting:

I have tried recreating the page template from the non-admin users account (moderator).

I have looked in the extensions menu hoping to find the template and be able to add "deploy" permissions. perhaps "page templates" is covered by something like "skins?"

I have looked at permission settings in the xml file of the page template, and the moderator role has both view and edit permissions, although i think that this applies to the page that is created from the template rather than the template itself.

would i be right in thinking that the problem is that the "copy from page" overrides the page template selection, so that regardless of the template selected, DNN tries to copy the page selected instead of applying a template?

note that i have also tried copying the page that the template is based on from the non-admin account, and i end up with all of the modules, but without their content. when i do this from the host account, i get options of what to include from the copied page, which is not available to the moderator account.

The goal is to allow a given role the ability to add a page with a predetermined layout and content. I have tried everything i can think of!

The last resort would be to either create a load of pages for the moderator to then edit(but this means that in the future any requests for new pages will always come back to me) or giving the user an admin account (which really is not acceptable, as again, in the future we may want to give several users similar functionality without giving them administrator access)

I have spent quite some time trying to figure this out, so if anyone has any ideas, i would REALLY appreciate them!

Cheers,

John
