Our company's website is being converted to DotNetNuke 6.0.  Our programmer has some styles listed in a document container.css and they seem to work with "containers" that are module driven.  I am trying to figure out how to use styles in containers that are not module driven.  I know that I have 4 different .css files that drives this database, but I am at a loss where to actually put the code in which .css file.  I have tried the container.css and the default.css and neither works.

Any help would be appreciated

Debbie

I would place that in skin.css

From  Blog post about the Stylesheets in DNN:

---------------------------------------------------------------

A. Skin.css
A style sheet that contains CSS for all the skins in a package.
If a Skin.css file exists in the package it will load for every skin in the package.
Locations:
 /Portals/_Default/Skins/"MySkin"/Skin.css

OR
/Portals/"PortalFolder"/Skins/"MySkin"/Skin.css

Can you elaborate on what you meant by a 'module driven container'.  It's not making sense to me.

In DNN, modules display content.  A container 'frames' a module.  A skin decides what the overall 'shape' of the page is and which regions of the page are able to display modules (in their containers).

Ignoring an edge case where a module can be configured to *not* display it's container, it seems to me that all containers have modules.  I don't get the idea of a module 'driving' a container.  A module does not really know anything about the container that displays it.

You can set what container should be used on a page (in page settings), but you can also set what container should be used for a specific module (in module settings)

You could say that in that case the module and the container are related and the module "knows" it's container.

Timo is correct - but I have a different perspective.

All those settings are external to the module itself.  I would argue that a module author should never make assumptions about the container that will display the module and in that sense the module is ignorant of the container.
