Hi,

I have a older version DNN site that has been working perfectly for over 18 months.

Now when I open site both internally & externally i get the DNN logo, then dot net nuke error & finally windows server 2008. also have a return to site box to click on.

its more graphical looking with no detailed text or error messages.

any idea where i might start to troubelshoot? I have restarted the webserver, checked bindings, made sure the sql server is up.

There are about 10 other dnn website instances working fine on the same server using the same sql server which are all working fine.

Thanks in advance

If you are seeing the error page that I think you're seeing this usually indicates a problem connecting to the database. I would try connecting to the database via MS SQL Server Management Studio or other similar tool using the same server and database name and credentials as the site's web.config connection string. Might it be that the password for the database login being used in the connection string was set to expire and force a password change?

If you can access the site's database, take a look at the EventLog table and in particular the LogProperties column for recent errors that may give a clue as to what is happening.

Thanks for your response Bill,

I could access the database & checked out the log as you suggested. Turns out is was a .net version issue.

Only changes on that server were a heap of Windows live updates over the Christmas period.

An upgrade to a later version of DNN did the trick.

Thanks again.

Todd
