Hi - I'm trying to figure out how to add a module to all pages by reference.  I'd like to add an html module to a footer pane and keep management of that content on the home page - so if I make a change it applies to all pages.  Is there a way to do that?

Thanks,

Jay

sure, you just need to add the module as existing and not new - see http://helpsite.dotnetnuke.com/OnlineHelp/Content/08.%20Building%20Your%20Portal/Adding%20and%20Managing%20Modules/Module%20Basics/03%20Add%20Existing%20Module%20RibbonBar.htm?Highlight=existing

Thanks for the reply Cathal.

I used the "Display Module On All Pages?" option in Advanced Settings on the module itself.  I added it to all 128 pages, and shows a list of the "Added to Pages".  But they didn't seem to be connected by reference, but I think that they actually are - at least the Content area.   It doesn't look like the Module Title is connected by reference... is that right?

Thanks again,

 Jay

Hi Jay, yes, it's only the module content that is changed, by design the module settings are not changed. You might, for example, want to set the title of modules on other pages to a different name or apply different container styles. I have sections on my site with different colours and I wouldn't want a blue container on a red page. I've often thought, though, that there should be an option so that settings could be changed and replicated to the other copies.

You add a module to all pages yet if you change the container you can't change it for all. That doesn't make sense. If I move the module, nope.. stays on all other pages in old place.

So if I want to build the same layout in one pane for all pages, forget it.
