did you already try just restarting your IIS application pool? if the error persists, you might need to modify web.config temporarily, setting customErrors to "off", in order to get details of the issue displayed.

Got it going, in my case, I had to manually remove the 6.1.3 version row from the Versions table in fhe DB, make sure my asp.net user had access to all the files, and re-run the upgrade.

I'm attempting to do the same as you did - my sites have been down for 8 hours now.

Oddly I cannot see 6.1.3 in the dbo.version --> Edit Top 200 Rows - am I looking in the right place?

Another thing to note is that when I attempt to expand the 'database diagrams' I get an error that says there is no valid owner set on my database. I had previously moved my DNN from another server back in November (though it worked OK). additionally when I look under Users at dbo there is no Login name - it is greyed out and I cannot change it.

I'm using SQL Express 2008.

Thanks again

Yes, should be the last row, if its not there, then the upgrade did not hit the db.
what happens if you go to:
YOURDOMAIN/install/install.aspx?mode=upgrade

This should force the upgrade to start, it will show on the screen what version of the db you have.

Another thing I did in trying to get this to work for me, was I edited the install script slightly to run the upgrade whether it thought it needed it or not.

Thanks for the reply,

when I do that I get a blank window.

Can you tell me more about how you edited the script and where to find it? I stupidly didn't backup my sites properly - as in I got the content but I didn't manage to backup the DB I'm so angry with myself :-(

Cheers,
