This is a bit simplistic, and I'm working backwards here, but my goal on our global website is to have spanish/french/german/simplified chinese/dutch country flags displayed on all of the pages, and then by clicking on the country, the person has the instant translation...

So I've read the DNN manual, gone to admin>language packs, installed a couple of languages, but nothing appears on the website yet, and clicking update/save.

Is the next step going to Host>enable localized content?  Do the country flags and the translations appear when you update this part of DNN?

I just want to make sure I'm in the right area, and the results I'm looking for will 'pop up' or so it seems.

Does anyone have a DNN website which has the language packs and translations setup they can share?

Thanks.

you need to use a skin, which has the [LANGUAGE] skin object included - DNN default skin does and many of the skins on Snowcovered, though not all of them.

Thanks for confirming the next step, I did some digging in the online manual, and noticed that mentioned.

Our DNN is still at 5.05.01 Community edition, does that also make a difference with functionality of the language packs?  I couldn't "enable localized content'  yesterday either, DNN kept hanging up at 20% complete.

And do the language packs automatically translate your English content, or is there still another step?

Language Packs do translate static resources, i.e. labels, column heads, help texts - full stop. You need a content localization solution like EALO, Apollo, DSLocalizator or built in localizaed pages for content in multiple languages. Besides I suggest upgrading to DNN 5.6.5 or 6.1.2, because localization in 5.5.1 was quite buggy.
