We have been running 5.6.1 since 2010 (I think), and the previous DNN developer here modified the default code to allow AutoComplete in the Login module.  I believe the only modification was to the VB code, setting Autocomplete to ON rather than OFF.  I have been testing a Beta version of the site that's been upgraded to 6.1.2, and I see that the Auocomplete does not work anymore, even after making the same mod to the new C# code.  I see DNN5 used an ASP Button in the Login module, but DNN6 uses a LinkButton.  I don't know if something else has changed that just simply won't allow the AutoComplete to work.

Has anyone figured out how to get the Log-in AutoComplete working in DNN6?  I understand that DNN thinks of this as a security hole, and therefore doesn't support it.  However, the users have been employing this feature for several years, and now expect to stil lhave it available after the upgrade.

Thanks
Dan

One of the recent 6.x versions incorrectly added autocomplete="false" to the default.aspx page (see http://support.dotnetnuke.com/issue/ViewIssue.aspx?id=19512&PROJID=2 ) - this will be resolved in a later release (probably 6.1.4) but you can manually remove it to support autocomplete

Thanks for the reply.

I have gone all the way back to the "install" code, removed the AutoComplete parm in default.aspx, and changed login.ascx.cs to set AutoComplete on.  Cleared cache, deleted cookies and session variables.  Confirmed that the "save password" message comes up in the Live site.  Cleared cache, etc., again.  Opened up a new browser tab, tried the Beta site, but the message does not come up.  Any other thougths?

view the page source and search for "autocomplete" - if it is not there the issue is browser related (you can set a browser to ignore the autocomplete settings)

I went all the way back to the beginning, and restarted with a copy of my live 5.6.1 version.  I confirmed that the message comes up in IE and Chrome.  I copied in the 6.1.2 upgrade files.  Removed AutoComplete from default.aspx, and changed login.ascx.cs to say ON rather than OFF.  Then I ran the upgrade.  Cleared cache, etc.  Started the web site.  The message does not come up in either browser.

Yes, I looked at the page source, and AutoComplete is on for the username and password.

I also did a clean install of 5.6.0, and made the same two changes.  It does not work.  All I can figure is that the previous developer found something else in v5 to make this work -- something that was turned off again by the v6 upgrade.
