As for the 620px, this is what Scott  (Ventrian) said (and i highly trust what he says).

I will try to post also a screen capture but i find it hard to believe that it doesn't happen to ANY DNN 6.

Well ... i did a quick and dirty Search for "620px" and it seems that indeed it is in SEVERAL places,

Default.css

Telerik various files

etc.

So 620px exist.

Hmm, ok.
Inline editing like the news articles module does is not very common for dotnetnuke modules.
99% does editing in the edit skin you set.

You can set the editor width for Ventrian.
Admin options > Main options > Form settings.
Try setting the editor width to 300px, you will see that the rest will still be to wide.
The title input itself is set to width:350px for instance.

I think the only solution is to choose a pane that's wide enough to put the module in.

This has been suggested by Ventrian and while i have tried it, it still bleeds to the right.

While this is not a major problem, it confuses some editors/users.

Timo here is a capture, the problem is both in text and rich editor.

The problem has been reported to (a) the Ckeditor developer (b) to Ventrian, and both point at DotNetNuke.
