Hi,

I'm trying to get a XHTML skin working and am using HouseMenu as a skin object in vertical orientation.  I want to get it to work like pretty much any vertical menu with static links (i.e. not DHTML) but I can't find a combination of settings that works.  What I need is fairly standard menu functionality I think:
  1. Show all top level pages
  2. Show children of current page
  3. Show children of all pages on path to current page
  4. Don't show children of other pages
HM seems to either expand the entire menu (isrecursive="True") or not display the children of the current page at all (isrecursive="False").

Does anybody know if and ow how I can get it to work with HouseMenu or recommend another menu that is XHTML compatible and will do this?

Thanks,

Rob.

I don't think that is possible. You can get recursive, but it applies to all pages, as you have found. I don't know of an alternative that does what you want either, sorry.

BTW discussion of third party modules is discouraged on this forum.

It's a bit of a shame HouseMenu can't do this, I thought it was pretty standard menu functionality but I suppose it is mainly orientated towards the DHTML menu.

If I can't find something that does this (or work out a way to do it myself) it will severely restrict how much I'll be able to use DNN.

Part of my reason for posting here was the hope that someone may know of an alternative if HM couldn't achieve what I wanted but I note what you say and will refrain from future posts on third party modules.

Rob.

Solpartmenu can show children of the current page and also restrict the number of levels I think. Check out the Skinning Guide and look for the Solpart menu attributes.

Do you know the truth when you hear it?

Just to be clear.  We are not against talking about third-party modules. It is only an issue if we have to try and provide support for those modules, becasue often we do not know them, and it might keep us from supporting the core modules as well.  It's better to take support questions for third-party modules to their support site or contact the developer directly if possible.

There is a new Menu in the latest version of DotNetNuke that was just released.  I have not tried it out yet, but it is supposed to be more XHTML compliant.

You may also want to click on the link in my signature for another alternative that will do everything you are looking for.
