So here I am, ready to install my first skin on DNN 6. Only, no one on the web seems to know how to do it. I've read tons of sites and blogs and they all refer to selections and tabs that do not exist. I'm logged in as host and selecting skins doesn't let you install skins and selecting extensions has no "action" tab like it says it does on the DotNetNuke.com training video. I turned on admin to be able to install skins and that didn't help. No one has a solution except for DNN 5.6.0 and as I pointed out, even the video on DotNetNuke.Com by the training guru  is out of date and references tabs, like the action tab, that apparently don't exist in 6. I am using community edition; are skins only available for professional?

I tried More Extensions but it only puts me in a search locked window to buy skins. Oh, and I tried search for the name of one of the Design Challenge skins, no luck either.

So for DNN 6, I want to install a skin from the DotNetNuke.com Design Challenge. How do you do it?

Thanks

NARLevel3

In EDIT mode, HOST > Extensions > Manage Button > Install Extension Wizard, browse for the skin package on your local drive and follow the instructions.

Also, just tried this in More Extensions and if you search for the exact name of the skin (eg DotNetNuke® Skin LateNight) it should display in the search results and you can deploy it from there.

Hey,

Do you know which files you exactly need to make the skin or can you send me some sample files? I want to create the skin in Dreamweaver but don't know where to start...

Kind regards,

Borrie

Hi Borrie, I'm not an expert at skinning but I would suggest that you watch Chris Hammond's "Basic DotNetNuke Skinning" video (http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Resources/Video-Library/Viewer/VideoId/14/Basic-DotNetNuke-Skinning.aspx) for starters. Then move on to the other skinning videos http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Resources/Video-Library/CategoryId/2/Skinning.aspx
