DNN 6.00.01 on a shared hosted server

I have uploaded a 50Mb file, once ito an unsecured folder and again into a secured one.

File synchronization is set to manual

If I run the file synchronize (recursive) the file in the normal folder shows up in file manager, whilst the one in the secure folder does not (it is left with the .zip extension there is no .resources extension added.

the File is added correctly into the files table for the normal folder, there is no record for the secure folder (there are other files in the secure folder registered correctly)

there is nothing showing in the Event viewer.

 Any ideas?

Extra info:

I have just tried uploading it to a normal folder, doing a file sync so that it shows up, then using file manager to move the file from teh unsecured to the secure folder - this works OK - the file is now showing up in file manager and has the correct .resources extension.
