I've been playing with DNN 3.2.2 off and on for several months.  I am having issues with the File Manager (page loads with errors and I can't upload any files).  I was wondering if upgrading to a newer version will solve my problems.  I've made several posts to other forums, but no answers yet.

Can DNN be upgraded from one version to the next.  If so, how is this done?  I'm still new and don't totally understand the file sturcture or the database just yet.

I'm using DNN 3.2.2, .NET Framework 2.0, and MSDE 2000.

If anyone has a simple step-by-step it would be great!

Thanks.

Nadine

Nadine,

which version of DotNetNuke do you use? I assume the install version.

For an update

  • make a backup of your DNN files and database.
  • extract all files from DNN 3.3.0 update version
  • open web.config and release.config in a text editor (preferable with text comparison features as winmerge http://winmerge.org has)
  • copy database connection string, object qualifier and both encryption keys as well as any individual adoption to release config
  • rename release.config to web.config
  • hit your site, acknowledge any question about conversion of user accounts.
  • If all went ok, access your portal.

Cheers from Germany,

I am using the Install Package of version 3.2.2.

Do you think upgrading TO version 3.3.0 will solve the problems with File Manager?

Thanks for the info.

I'll give it a try.

Nadine
