Opps, must be my bad.  I checked the forums, the blog posts here on DNN, and even checked Twitter for news on the new store before I posted.  I guess I should have thought to look at http://weblogs.asp.net/rchartier/archive/2012/02/09. Silly me.

Thanks for the update Cathal!

I usually try to offer solutions along with my rants when I bitch on DNN.com forums and I see I forgot to do that this time so:

  • Won't comment on all the bugs as I'm sure you already know about those.
  • A filter on modules for top selling by unit month-to-date and one for year-to-date. As a customer / community member I don't really need to know  by revenue.
  • I'd like a container in right pane of the module profile that shows all of the past releases of the module. This way I can judge how often the module is being updated and I can also see if it hasn't been updated in forever. This is a huge consideration when purchasing.
  • Some type of validation for when developers add a new release that forces them to tell us what is included / different in the new release!!!!!!   !!!!   Heck why not a few more - !!!!!!
  • Some type of comments system that is separate from the rating system. An area where people can bitch, praise, share knowledge, upload templates!!!!!!, etc.  Yes, some of this really should take place on the developer's website/forum but not all developers have a website and/or forum.
  • A moderated ratings system. A person(s) who can review the ratings and delete the ratings where (as an example) someone gave the module a one star because they couldn't figure out how to install it.

Just a couple of suggestions.

Just read the blog post and  Ill wait till all the new items in pipeline are integrated but I would say look at the envato store codecanyon, themeforest photodune etc.

Rating system shoudl be independent from the comment system. There shoudl be some kind of comment system on snowcovered seperate from the rating . Very handy from quick comment pre sales etc. thsi way users can help eachother and dont have to wait for vendor to reply

new products shoudl be before the best sellers. i want to know and see what new immediately not what the top sellers are.

In our opinion Cathal, the biggest bug is the product discounts. We have clients complaining about it already and even though we created help desk tickets we have not got answers to any of them. The end dates of any product discount without an ed date is being set to 01/01/1900. Y2K bug 12 years later? Even when we change it and set the to say 01/01/2050, they still don't work.

The same for the promos, although in their case, if we give an end date on creation then it works. Does that mean we will need to re create a promo coupon for every single client. Please, have mercy!

For the layout, the product discount announcements should be on the bottom instead of the current prime position. We have products that need two "page downs" till you can see content.

One more very important thing we forgot to add. The referral system is b-r-o-k-e-n. Last referral we got was from 5th of February. If we just add the "&r=####" to the end of the url, we get and ugly error message that made us a little sad. Please, this is an urgent fix.
