Hello

I have a nagging little issue that started when we moved our site to a hosted data center server(s). The web site is on one server while the Sql Server 2008 is on another. It's seems sporadic and can't seem to pin down. Using the DNN 6.01.01 (12)

I will say that I don't think it is necessarily a DNN problem but maybe someone can lead me into the right direction.

Problem:      I can be working along just fine in DNN, adding and modifying content for an hour or two. then all of sudden when I click to save the module content, I'll get the following DNN page "This Site is not available". It will stay offline for 5 to 15 minutes then I'm able to get back in to continue working. Very annoying because it will happen 3 - 4 times per day.

History:        We actually developed the site on another standalone server that had the SQL Express database on it too. We had absolutely no issues like this in development.

Now the obvious is that it is somehow losing the DB connection. We are having the hosting center  monitor it but they haven't come up with anything.

Is there a DNN "timeout value" for SQL or something we should check?

Thanks !!

Allan

Did you check the DNN logs for errors? Or the log files on the server that runs DNN? That would be a good starting point since you don't have a lot of details on the problem.

That was next on the list. I did check Event viewer. However, just after I created this thread we got a response from another tech at the data center. Evidently they saw a "session timeout" property set to low in the app pool. Hopefully this explains it and fixes it.

Thanks for replying, Mark.
