Hi All,

I am getting following error after enable gzip compression from host menu. This error is coming for major pages in my website.

Error Message : Object reference not set to an instance of an object.
Stack Trace : at DotNetNuke.HttpModules.Compression.CompressingFilter.WriteHeaders() at DotNetNuke.HttpModules.Compression.CompressionModule.CompressContent(Object sender, EventArgs e) at System.EventHandler.Invoke(Object sender, EventArgs e) at System.Web.HttpApplication.RaiseOnPreSendRequestHeaders()

Webserver is IIS 6 and dot net framework is 3.5.

Please help.

Thanks
Ketan

try viewing the uncompressed pages and ensuring that they do not contain odd markup e.g. multiple html tags -please note, we are likely going to remove compression from dotnetnuke at some point as it is prone to errors. Gzip compression was introduced into the product before compression was implemented in IIS. Now, the recommendation is that users use IIS compression over GZIP.

Hi Cathal,

The HTML tags are good but a problem is due to image button click event. It has "response.redirect" and it is creating problem with update panel. There are few options to manage it through update panel trigger but I will have to change over lots of pages.

I will go for IIS gzip compression option, if that works for me.

Thanks.
Ketan
