Pingle,

Sorry for taking so long to respond, I was away all day.

I'll try to explain.  I subscribed to discountASP.net, pointed my domain to it for my website.  I didn't know about DOtNetNuke, and put up a page in anticipation of someday getting the site developed.  I'm an Access developer, and can program, but always fall short on my web development skills.  I hired a company to do the site, but it didn't work out between us, so I checked around and came across the DotNetNuke site and thought this is the answer to my dreams.  I tried to download and install DotNetNuke on one our local workstations and ran into problems.  I tried on another machine and still problems.  Then I inquired of discountASP what it would take to install it from their server and found it was pretty easy, so I did that and went through the DotNEtNuke Adminsitration tutorial using the DotNetNuke web to practice.  I learned enough to go ahead and start developing my new site, which is why I am trying to create a new site.  I want a clean start.   My existing  DiscountAsp page has nothing to do with DotnetNuke.  The server is displaying the default.aspx page I created and not the even addressing DotNetNuke which is located in a folder off of it.

I hope that makes sense.  I don't know the terminology to use.

God Bless,

Mark

I see that the alias isn't the problem.  From help I discovered that the alias just provides an http path to the site.  Since the server isn't pointing to it the site, the alias won't take me there.

Let me start again:  I create a new site via the host site management module and want to switch to it so I can develope my site.  I'll post this to a new thread:

Thank you and God Bless,

Mark

Hi Sam, OK, think I'm with you now. I would be inclined to continue with this thread as it has the background information and the title is relevant. Firstly, try logging in to your DNN installation as Host (SuperUser) and go to Tools on the top menu, you will see View Site and should see your new portal listed in the dropdown. Select that portal and click Switch Site. Let me know if that works.

Pingle,

I think I have it.  I added the site as a child to the DotNetNuke site and I accessed the new site.  It that the way to do it?  I wonder if it will cause a problem down the road when I put the site into production.

God Bless,

Mark
