Hello,

I installed a skin package but cannot see the skins listed anywhere, for example, when I went to the settings on a textbox module on a page, only the Dark Knight components (I don't know the terminology)  appeared on the list.

Thank you for any help and God Bless,

Mark A. Sam

Hi Mark.

By looking in a module's settings, you are looking for the container skins rather than the page skins.

If you go to Admin > Site Settings > Basic Settings tab and expand Appearance, you will see Portal Skin and Portal Container (you can deploy page and container skins for the entire site from here assuming you have your pages and containers set to 'None Specified).

Firstly, see if you can find the skin in the Portal Skin drop down, if so you have installed the page skin.

Then check the Portal Container although the skin shouldn't be there as it wasn't when you checked the module settings.

I'm betting that you have uploaded the page skin but not the container skin. Check the skin download, they sometimes have separate folders for 'skins' (pages) and folders for 'containers'. You will need to upload and install the container.

Hope that helps!

Hello Pingle,

Thanks for the response.  I checked the areas you mentioned and there was no indication that the skin exists.  I did, however, install both skin and container yesterday.  That was confusing itself.  There were option s Skin, Container,  No Skin/Container, which was checked.  I tried installing the container again, and the wizard got at far as the gathering information section and no further.

Then I opened an email from the company which wrote the skin or container or whatever it is called, and they said I need to install a menu module and gave me a link.  I went to the site and am more confused now than ever before.  So I'll pudder around with that for a couple days...lol.  I started with DotNetNuke, because it seemed like it would be an easy to use tool, but it has proven otherwise.  But maybe it is just a matter of experience using it.  I hope so, becuase it looks promising.

God Bless,

Mark

Mark,

DNN seems that way at first but I gets easier as you use the system.

If you were promted to select a skin, container or both, that means DNN didn't know what it was. This happens with older modules and I believe it's causes by a mandatory file that's missing that would normally identify the object.

We'd probably need more details but I'd start with the company that made it since they know the product but feel free to post here if you run in to any other issues.
