I just upgrade to DNN Pro 6.1.3 from 6.1.2 and now have a User Administration problem.

I have a "User Administrators" group who are allowed to Authorize users and make User Profile changes. They are not Site Administrators.

The  "User Administrators" group has Full Control of the page, and the User Accounts module inherits page security.

Since the upgrade, they can see the Registered Users, but any changes they make to the Users Profile; First or Last name, Roles, and Authorize/Un-authorize, etc. are no longer saving and no error is given.

If I make them a Site Administrator - they can save these changes - but that is not a viable option.

This worked in 6.1.2 Pro - but not since the upgrade to 6.1.3 Pro

Andrew,

I would suggest opening up a support ticket using your Professional edition support.

You can do so from the DotNetNuke Support Network http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Resources/S...

Andrew, I am also experiencing the same issue with our DNN site after upgrading from 6.1.2 to 6.1.3.  Presently, only SuperUsers and Administrators can manage user accounts.  A specific group I created, and added users to and than allowed this group the permissions to view and edit the User Accounts module in 6.1.2 worked.  Now it does not.

If not a fix, is there a work around to allow other users the ability to manage user accounts, without granting them site administrator permissions?

 HELP!!!

I contacted PE Support... here is their response:

"I have tested this functionality on DNN PE 6.1.2 and DNN PE 6.1.3.
Indeed non-administrative users are no longer able to update user/roles properties.

This is a result of security fix in DNN PE 6.1.3:

Security Fixes

  • Fixed issue where non-approved users can gain access to user and role functions

So for now non-administrative users are no longer able to gain access to someone else profile.

In future releases we may allow certain actions to be delegated to non-admins (i.e. users with edit permissions), but in the meantime if you require that sort of functionality please consider writing a module to do so and using the relevant RoleController/UserController methods."

I will post any work around I can come up with - this has caused a huge ripple effect across our distributed user administration.
