Hello,

I'm putting a site together for an organization with "Members" and "Non-Members" both of whom are registered users on the site.

In most places in DNN, registered users are referred to as "Registered Users" - like in the permissions settings. But, in the profile visibility options, it uses "Members" to (I think) mean "Registered Users." In our case, this will cause a lot of confusion.

First, is it possible to change that text somewhere? I couldn't find it in the resource files - but it is probably there. Second, would it make sense to change that permanently as the default?

Thanks,

Mike

Members in the profile visibility option means "someone who is logged in". Registered Users also from a role/permissions perspective means the same thing, so it is safe to associate those two.

Is it possible to change the roles around, and make it so Registered Users isn't everyone who is logged in, yes, but you would have to go out of your way to make that happen.

The text for Members only is likely stored in a Resource File somewhere, though I don't know which one off hand. You can edit resource files using the Language editor.

This video briefly talks about the language editor  http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Resources/V...

Thanks Chris...

I don't want to change the meaning so much as I was suggesting some consistency there... Why not just use "Registered users" in the visibility thing instead of "Members" if "Registered Users" is what's used in the permissions area?

I'll keep looking through the resource files and see if I can find where it's listed.

Hope all's well,

Mike

Hello,

I found it in the resource files... it was in the "Global Resources" -> "SharedResources" file as "Resource Name: MembersOnly.Text" if it helps anybody.

I think this stuff is changing in 6.2 - so this is will likely be obsolete soon.

Thanks,

Mike

Mike, there are lots of places we have room for improvement in terms of consistency :D

Glad you found the change you need for now. You are probably correct in terms of 6.2 as well.
