Hi,

hopefully just one more forum question. I have 3.20.9 forums on 6.1.3. On a new portal I have set up I am trying to create forums. I will upgrade to the latest version of the forums when I can get that to work on a dev machine. But in the meantime I wanted to roll out forums for my new site for the Mens Business Association I am launching.

Unfortunately when I create forums they are not visible after creation. I have set the module to be editted by registered users and subscribers like other forums that I have set up. Has anyone seen a case on 6.1.3. where the older forums are not visible when created?

Here is my personal site that is running on the same instance of DNN as the MBA portal. So it would seem the portal is handling forums ok so it must be a setting when creating the new forums.

Hey Peter,

I'm working on getting this old version into my lab (unfortunately all my machines are running the latest code, and in some cases the 6.2 ctp code and modules).  So, if I can get the time to get another portal up and this old version I will see if I can actually duplicate this, but in the mean time without recalling the actual interface, the first thing that comes to mind is checking forum settings, and verifying that you have it setup for 'Public No Moderation'  or an otherwise public setting.

Also, I ran into an issue on another module installation where by default it sets all of the newly added modules to inherit the parent page perms, and the page I was on was hidden to the public view, so no matter what I did unless I was registered and logged in I couldn't see it. Once I removed the ' ' option in the module permissions settings I was able to view it as an unregistered public user.  Of course set it to match your requirements for registration etc.

 Hope That Helps!

Hi Dustin,
what I found was in forum->settings there is a setting called "Forum Group"

This was set to discussions by default. It needs to be set to "not specified". Then the other forums are displayed. Kind of strange but I guess the new default gets set somehow.

Best Regards

PS. I am trying to upgrade to recent forums on the site but another portal has forums with data in them and this entry seems to indicate that there are problems getting the upgrade to work.
