A Eureka Moment but no solution:

OK so I have taken the UserControl away from Design and created it in the code behind.

1) Because the site is a site and not a solution, VS10 did not like to src="MiniControls/filename.ascx" and hence why it wasn't thinking it was a registered file when in design mode but the page worked.

2) In the code behind, I have also had to change its location from "MiniControl/filename.ascx" to "~/Portals/4/OpenSmart/MiniControls/filename.ascx" so I tried the file src in design to the file url and now VS10 is happy but the page dont work!!

Like a big vicious circle!

I am using the codebehind solution but would prefer design view

Any Ideas?
