I have installed DNN 4.3 as both an upgrade and as a new install. In both cases the install looked OK, but some modules (eg MEDIA) gives;

DotNetNuke.Services.Exceptions.ModuleLoadException: An error has occurred while establishing a connection to the server. When connecting to SQL Server 2005, this failure may be caused by the fact that under the default settings SQL Server does not allow remote connections.

I am using a remote host with MSSQL 2000.

Does anyone have an idea what I might be doing wrong? Do I need MSSQL 2005? The connection string 'must' be correct because most of the site works.

You should verify that DNN can connect to SQL. First thing to check is the connection string  in two places inside web.config

Thanks, that did it, I only had the connection string in one spot.
