Hi,

Hopefully somebody can help

When I upgrade my DNN site from 6.1.0.3 to 6.1.0.4 it errors with Executing Application Upgrades: 06.01.04 Error!.

Upon looking in the log file 06.01.04_Application.log.resources

The error appears to a problem with an email address, I have checked the users emails and the emails configured for host and site and all appear to be correct. Is there anyway to find out the address that causes this problem. I can rerun the upgrade again to try and get more information if something is available.

Thanks in advance

It looks you extracted an install package whitch overright the web.config file over your DNN instance.  You did upgraded the system with an new maschine key, that decrypt and encrypt the connection to the asp.net membership database.

Restore the database and your files from your backups.  Then make a copy from your web.config file, so you can be sure that you can check your web.config settings.  Then download the upgrade package extract to your DNN path and run the upgrade task.

Thank you for your response, I can however confirm that I downloaded DotNetNuke_Community_06.01.04_Upgrade.zip from the web which does not contain an updated web.config.

The website does appear to work despite this error, I just wanted to be sure that I am not going to have other issues later on if I apply the update to the live site.

Thanks

If you used the install package you have to transfer a lot of data, 2 connection strings, Maschine Key, databaseOwner, and perhaps some Module settings from the old versions we.config to the new one. So always save a copy of the existing web.config file before strat to update and of cause, macke a backup of the database and files.

Accepted Answer

Could be that any user saved an not accepted e-mail address, and the validation of the email failed on upgrade.  Not sure if the install was ok, most time the upgrade stops on errors. And a restore of file and database backup is needed.

I woulde restore to the last version, and then checking all file and folder permissions before I retry to upgrade to the new version.
