I am running DNN 5.6.3

Is there a way to convert (http://www.hometownclub-nj.com/home/tabid/About/HomeTownTalentShowcase/tabid/176/language/en-US/Default.aspx) to (http://www.hometownclub-nj.com//HomeTownTalentShowcase)?

I thought the friendly url option would take care of this, however, I have not been able to make that work..

Thanks for any help or guidance you can provide.

Bill L

Only way I'm aware of doing this is within IIS, with the URL rewrite module. I personally haven't seen anything like that in DNN, but I'm a newbie myself.

Actually I was trying some things out with the friendly url writer myself because I was interested in this feature too. I think I got it working the way you are describing by doing the following steps, but I am also running dnn 6, not 5. maybe it's similar though

-I went to host, host settings, and clicked on advanced settings
-clicked add new rule
-in the match column I put */myfriendlypath
-in the replace with column i entered the actual page, like /my/old/path/goeshere.aspx
-clicked the save icon, and then entering mydomain.com/myfriendlypath redirects to mydomain.com/my/old/path/goeshere.aspx

hope this helps

Thanks for the help, however, I still cannot make it work. I think I have the syntax wrong. I am alos not sure as to what part of the page address is included in the replace with side.

let me try to rephrase to see if that will help with the syntax

say you have a page on your website available on the web at www.mydomain.com/my/long/path/pagename.aspx

1) add a new rule
2) in the "match" field put "*/myfriendlypath" without the quotes
3) in the "replace with" field put "/my/long/path/pagename.aspx" without the quotes
4) click the save icon to save the new rule
