I'm in the middle of trying to write code again for my college's magazine system, and I want the editors to be able to assign staff to review submitted articles from the students.  Editors and reviewers both have distinct roles in the DNN system, and I was hoping to be able to populate a drop down list with the reviewer's DNN id's or registered names.

Hello,

I think you're looking for the RoleController class it's here: DotNetNuke.Security.Roles.RoleController

In there, you'll find procedures to "GetUsersByRole" and whatnot... this way, you can fill your drop down list with those users.

Hope this helps,

Mike

what i ended up using:
'have a drop down list control in the .ascx file id = lstStaff
'put this code in page load event on the .ascx.vb file
' Declare a Role Controller object
Dim objRoleController As New DotNetNuke.Security.Roles.RoleController()

' Get an ArrayList of UserInfo objects from the respective
Dim objUserList As ArrayList = objRoleController.GetUsersByRoleName(DotNetNuke.Entities.Portals.PortalSettings.Current.PortalId, "Staff")

' Declare a loop control variable
Dim i As Integer = 0

' Loop through the ArrayList of UserInfo to extract the user information
For Each objUserInfo As DotNetNuke.Entities.Users.UserInfo In objUserList
lstStaff.Items.Insert(i, New ListItem(objUserInfo.DisplayName, objUserInfo.UserID))
' .Email will get you the email address
