OK, this is weird. Not even sure how to explain. But when I log into my DNN site through my host I get a thing that shows up at the top that says "Update Available" but when I log into my Localhost version through Webmatrix to get the update the message is not showing at the top....Any idea's?

Sounds like the either the localhost version is either running the newest verion of DNN of you have "Check for updates" check on the server version but not on the localhost version.

Login as Host, go to the Host | Host Settings page and uncheck/check (depending on your preference for this notification) to change it. You will also see the DNN version on this page so you can compare them.

Latest version can be found here: http://dotnetnuke.codeplex.com/

Thanks for replying Steven.

However I do have "check for updates" turned on and No I am not running on the latest version. Not sure if I need to open some ports? Firewalls? not sure. When I log into my production site (which is exactly same as test) it prompts me to update.

The update service is only active if you have installed a FQDN web site.

It does not work with localhost installations. You'll have to upgrade your localhost installation vai upgrade package.
