Hi,

I'm about to start using the scheduler for some custom jobs.  I want the scheduled job to run every 5 seconds  but what will happen if the previous job has not finished within the 5 seconds?. For various reasons, the job may actually take longer than 5 seconds so I dont want to kick off another job until the first one completes.

So the real question is, Will the scheduler wait for the previous scheduled Job job to finish and then wait 5 seconds to kick off the next one?

cheers

If you are asking if the same task will run multiple times at once the answer is no. However, if you are talking about 2 separate tasks than things change a bit.

An additional thought here: if you are running the task in a web farm environment (multiple web heads) you need to make sure the task is only set to run on a single machine. (May not apply to the original poster but in case anyone comes across this in the future its worth a mention).

You need to be careful as I am running DNN 6.1.2 in timer mode and have seen numerous times where the same task runs multiple times and this has even been confirmed by the developer of the module that creates the scheduled task. Cant pinpoint it at the moment but the developer thinks it may be a bug as it wasnt happening with earlier 6.x versions.
