Hi,

we've just setup our first DNN site (version 6.0.1). On our test box everything works fine. However when we deployed to production we keep getting the error below if we try to browse any page on the site either by IP address or server name, if we use localhost then everything displays fine - any ideas on what could be causing this ?

500 Internal Server Error
The requested Url (http://ip-0aeb0d80/Default.aspx) does not return any valid content.

I would recommend a few things.

1. Make sure you are on the latest version of DNN 6.1.4
2. Make sure you are using the latest version of IFinity URL Master
3. Make sure that you change the PortalAliases when you move the site into production

Just to follow up on this one.

The exception you see is a bug with the Url Master module.

The problem you have is requesting a Url with an invalid portal alias.

The module is supposed to be returning a 404 error for the invalid Url (you can't request abc.com if you haven't added abc.com as a portal alias).  However, during the process of handling the request, a bug to do with DNN 6.0 and Url Master incompatibility is causing this exception.

This has now been fixed, and is available in the Url Master release 02.05.03.04, which can be downloaded either from the DotNetNuke store (if that's where you got the module) or from the Url Master downloads page : http://www.ifinity.com.au/Products/Ur...

The change in result from this is that you would see a 404 error if you request a Url for a site where IIS has the site binding, but the portal alias has not been set up correctly in DotNetNuke.  The Url Master module doesn't support the DNN feature of automatically adding the portal alias.
