Besides the framework is it built around, are there any advatgaes of one version over the other in terms of features, performance, etc?  Or are they identical in all repsects?

both are identical in function, you can use DNN 3 modules in DNN 4 but not vv. I have not tested or heard of comparisons of performance, but don't expect much difference.

If you have a choice and a blank canvas I would definitely head towards 4.x...

As a module developer there are a lot more features that can taken advantage of in .NET 2.0 and the sooner the community adopts 4.x the better (although it obviously is not this simple ;)

Thank all for the info.
So will 4.3 run all the 3.3 modules and skins no problem basically?

I thought I heard mention of some performance issues with the 2.0 framework that causes 4.3 to be slower and more a resource hog that 3.3 but perhaps that was not right.

Our business started every new project in DNN4 sindce 4.0.2. (We jumped from 3.1.1 to 4.0.2) There were some issues regarding the cache not working properly in 4.0.2 and 4.0.3, but the generics support outweighted the cache issues.

4.3 flies like a rocket, it does cache more than the previous versions so in a sense you could say it uses more memory.

In my experience 4.3 is the fastest DNN sindce 2.1.2
