I cleared the schedule history. I then edited the job and resaved it. The errors are still thrown every minute as I write this. Three errors are thrown every minute. There are no other errors in between them, so I assume these are all the errors logged for the each fail. I am using US english as default. I have used GB in the past but currently is disabled. I did try to upgrade to version 6 on a local machine but I ended up with more problems than it solved so I prefer to stick to 5.6.3 for time being on the live site.

One more thing. There is a folder /Portals/X/Cache . It has a Pages folder with various attrib and data files. There is a modules folder which is empty. In the root there are various files such as TabModule_1646_en-US.resources or TabModule_1764_en-GB.resources.

I am not sure why there are GB files there. Could these be the cause of the problem? Is it a good idea to delete these files to clear them and so the system can regenerate all the cached content? How do I know which portal is the error from? Should I delete these files in all of the portals?

Just to report back now. I deleted all the files (but not subfolders) in the /Portal/X/Cache folder of each portal in the installation. This has now solved the problem. The scheduler no longer throws errors and the cached News Articles Latest module functions correctly. I am not sure why I was not advised to do this as it is a simple activity and makes sense to do to get rid of corrupted cached files which these errors seemed to be about. There are now some errors in the system that some cached files are not found, but I imagine this will be eliminated over time as the cache is regenerated.
