I have some questions on the templates of the events Module.
Is there a way to use file based templates?
Might be I missed something, but I didn't find a way to do that (I expected them to be in the themes folders).

My use case is this:
I'm developing the templates on my dev. machine and want to share the templates across multiple events modules on the live server. Now either I or the administrator needs to copy the template to every instance of the events module placed, which is difficult to explain / manage.

Thanks, Timo

The (modified) templates are saved as records in the ModuleSettings table..
The default templates (from the install) are stored in the SharedResources.resx

So a way to do:
- Modify the SharedResources.resx before the install, so you can new defaults
- Use SQL to copy/paste the ModuleSettings records

Timo,

Ernst Peter is exactly correct, and you can blame me for the way it is done. I wish now I had done it differently, and we will change it. But too many things to do...

Sorry

Ah, cool! I can blame someone... ;-)
Thanks for your work on this module.

If you are going to change this I would suggest to put the template HTML files in the themes folder and load them if you choose a theme.

That would allow maximum flexibility as you already have a way to store themes in the portal folder (which most modules don't support)

That way you can prepare a template and the user can choose it with the theme.
(would also allow for more layout differences between the example themes)

I'll use the resx file method for now.

Thanks, Timo

Your suggestion to put the template in the Theme folder as default/starter is great, would you mind to put this in an issue/request on CodePlex (http://dnnevents.codeplex.com/workite...)? So people can vote for it?
