I am not sure what happened, but while creating a new Skin for my site, I now have a "[L]" next to almost all controls (any server-side control) for DNN!  This definately looks like it has to do with Localization (hence, an "L"), however, I do not have any localization enabled for the site.

This occurs when ShowMissingKeys in the web.config is set to true, set it to false to remove it (note: this is the setting that is used in development.config so you can see that if you renamed that to web.config - this is the config we use in development to ensure we pick up missed localizations and ensure the code works in medium trust)
