I have 6.2.1 and the problem is still there.

I added and assets folder and I can't get File Manager, and in return anything in DNN to see the folder.

Incredible,

I'm on 6.2.1 and I'm having same issue.

Also incredible that no one from DNN has responded to this after this long.

So now WTF  to do??

Well, hard to believe, but if you toggle on and off the recursive checkbox a couple of times, it will take after a couple tries.

Arghhh.

Looks like Synchronize Files works if the Recursive checkbox is selected.

This checkbox should be selected by default. Synchronize Files is the equivalent of hitting F5 (refresh) in Windows and there is no "Only refresh files in current folder, and please ignore the subfolders" option there. I am conditioned to expect the same behavior in all file managers.
