there are many ways, depending on the need - some people edit the page settings and add the reference in either the header or footer fields, some people add it directly to their skin/container, some add it via the html module (you will need to switch to html view otherwise it's stripped by the editor). Another option is a module such as http://wnsinj.codeplex.com/

Hi

As per my knowledge, better to add external js or css files from view page code behind page init method. You can create object of HtmlGenericControl and attach javascript file external link to that. For more details you can see blow link:

It is so absurd going to hunt on the web on how to put JavaScript in a html module. This coding should have been done by the DEVELOPERS in DotNetNuke BETA 000001. i have no clue on how to create a custom module like Sibabrata Dash suggested. HTML and JavaScript go hand in hand. We are not in the 1980's with static HTML. we are in the year 2014

Michael,
there is a lot of JS support in DNN - which comes with JQuery and jQuery UI and a few other libraries already (Library management has been added recently). There should be some guidance in the Wiki and on several sites. DNN support MVVM javascript modules as well.
