How do I use the user name validation field to block some names.  I have tried the following (but with this set the registration form stops working):
(?i)(name1|name2|name3)

I think you use <asp:RegularExpressionValidator do do the validate. But it seems your regular expression  ((?i)(name1|name2|name3)) is invalid. You need change it.

Something like the following using a zero-width negative lookbehind assertion should work for you:

^(?!bob|thomas|william).+$

You will like want to use a character class rather than the . which matches all characters to further limit the matches.

William,

Thanks, your expression appears to work. Would you have any suggestions on how to make it case insensitive (bob,Bob, bOb, etc.).
