Hello,

I got a slight problem with the mobile redirection.
The first is, I'd realy like to disable the feature, that the redirection only happens on the first request of the website.
After the first request, the redirection provider seems to set two cookies and any direct call to pages within the website that should be redirected isn't redirected anymore.

disableredirectpresist
disablemobileredirect

Is there any possibility to keep DNN from setting this two cookies?

My second problem is, I got a Tabpage with dynamic loaded content that depends on Query-String parameters. The same page is available on the mobile sites and there is the same module, which loads it's content the same way.

It looks like this

http://website.de/News.aspx?ArtiID=1234
http://m.website.de/News.aspx?ArtID=1234

Sadly the parameters aren't passed over at the redirect, so it's not possible to redirect the single Tab, because if I would do that, I would land at http://m.website.de/news.aspx without any parameters, which leads to no content on that site.

Is there any possibility to pass over parameters on a redirect?

Thanks for your help

Zhin

I agree with you about the lack of redirection of Query params being a major issue. Hopefully, this is something that will be corrected in a future release. The silly thing is that, looking at the source code, the Google nomo=1 param is passed through but no others.

Surely it is fundamental to how any re-direction works that it will preserve any query params that are included in the URL. After all, they are effectively non-destructive to the receiving page i.e. either it recognises the params and uses them or it doesn't recognise them and ignores them.

Nothing is going to "not work" because a re-direction sent through the query params. Or if you want to be super careful include a flag in the definition that allows them to be an option.

I am very disappointed that this feature is effectively unusable for a major part of our website except by me delving into the DNN source code and coming up with a modified version of the DLL.

please log any bugs/enhancment request to support.dotnetnuke.com. I should point out that I the redirection solution is just that -a redirection and not a mobile view (as the redirection is to a page that presumably has different characteristics e.g. a desktop version of a page might have 5 modules with full text, the mobile might have only 2 with minimized text etc. I absolutely can see use cases where parameters should be preserved but Im not sure if that was a deliberate decsion or it's a planned enhancement ( in all honesty Ive had little chance to play with mobile redirection as yet)

Thank you for your swift reply.

I can understand what you say if the only option was whole site redirection. The Mobile site is then complete in itself and any interactions between pages are contained within the site.

But having offered a page by page option I think it goes without saying that you will be passing parameters between your Mobile and non-Mobile pages. It seems to be an inexplicable oversight that any parameters including in the link aren't preserved. It's a few lines of code and it makes the feature completely flexible.

I will raise a support ticket so that I can get some understanding from the development team of why this was not included and/or when they will be including it.

Regards,
Neil

It is a shame that the DNN redirect does not offer an option to load a different skin.
