I need to recreate a long-running but now defunct DNN 3 site in order to migrate it to DNN 6.1.3.  I have the files and database ready to go but when I try to bring it up on my Windows 7 machine under NETWORK SERVICE I get HTTP Error 500.19: "The requested page cannot be accessed because the related configuration data for the page is invalid."

Microsoft Support Article 942055 seems to suggest: "Delete the malformed XML element from the ApplicationHost.config file or from the Web.config file."  Is there some way to find out what XML element in my DNN 3.1 web config is malformed?  Or is there some other resolution to try?  Thanks!

DNN 3 requires .Net 1.1 installed. You might copy over DNN 4.0.2 upgrade files, upgrading to be able running on .Net 3.5

Thanks.  I copied over 4.0.2 and did the upgrade (yah-hoo, after fixing several errors).  Now my problem is when the local site loads, it calls the hosted site because the default domain in the old (local) site now points to the new hosted site.  Do I need a Redirect somewhere to make DNN stay on my local site instead of going to the repointed domain  -- if so, what Redirect code and where should the code go?  Thanks, again.

you need to add new address as portal alias into portalAlias table in the database

thanks - I got my site to come up by removing all portal aliases except localhost for my portal.  Now I'm going for broke, trying to upgrade from 4.0.2 to 6.1.5.  I unzipped 6.1.5 upgrade over my site (igdnn) but when I do an Install (http://localhost/igdnn/Install/Instal...) I get

Compiler Error Message: BC30526: Property 'ApplicationPath' is 'ReadOnly'.
Source Error:

Line 248: Line 249: If HttpContext.Current.Request.ApplicationPath = "/" Then Line 250: ApplicationPath = "" Line 251: Else Line 252: ApplicationPath = HttpContext.Current.Request.ApplicationPath

Source File: C:\igdnn\App_Code\Global.asax.vb Line: 250

I unchecked ReadOnly and applied it to the site folder.  Also, I made NETWORK SERVICE a user and gave it Full Control.  Anything else I can try, or should I be moving from 4.0.2 to a different version before trying to upgrade to 6.1.5?
