Hi Michael,

Got diverted on other projects for a few days.  I actually can't find the DB in SQL Srvr Mgmt, though it must exist because the site works and I can create modules, users and such.  How can I access the DB to check the permissions?

Thanks,
Starr

Starr,

the location of the database should be stored in the web.config file. Anyway: If the site works, where do you get this "Under construction" message?

Did I miss something?

Best wishes
Michael

most likely you are using "user instance Express database", which is accessed via the file name in the connection string. I suggest reading http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Resources/Blogs/EntryId/1202/DNN-SQLExpress-SQL-Server-Management-Studio.aspx

Hi Sebastian,

this was my thought as well, I just wanted to wait until Starr did confirm that by reading his connection strings in the web.config file...

Best wishes

Hi Guys,

@ Michael - The message comes up sporadically.  Ususally after a period of not using it.  For example, the first time I view the site on any given day I will get the error.  I can then either refresh the page and it works, or sometimes I have to recycle the app pool to get it to work.  Then I'm fine for the rest of the day.

@Sebastian - I haven't tried attaching the DB in SQL, because I've heard of the problem described in the article you shared before.  Are you saying I *should* attach it to resolve the Under Construction message?

My connection string is as follows:

<add name="SiteSqlServer" connectionString="Data Source=.\SQLExpress;AttachDbFilename=|DataDirectory|Database.mdf;Integrated Security=True;User Instance=True" providerName="System.Data.SqlClient" />

Thanks to both of you!
