How do I give a user Admin rights to a sub section of the website and not the whole website?  It would be nice if they could have their own section with their own menu structure, but the "Home" page goes back to main site home page.

For example I want to setup a page (section) called “Local News”. I want to give one or more reporters the right to create any number of sub pages and sub menus. They can upload pictures to those pages. Local news becomes a sub section of the main site.

I thought I could use a child website, but that is a complete website and has no link back to the parent site.  I guess I could do a child website and then manually put a link back to the main Home page?  I thought I could set the Home page as the home page for parent site, but that is apparently an external site link.

It looks like I have to give them Administrator rights in order for them to upload images.  However that gives them admin rights to the entire site.

SORRY, I am probably making this much harder than it is, but I do not see the solution.

you may create a new security role and grant edit permission to all the pages in question, this will allow all role members to create child pages as well.

I must be doing something wrong.

I want to add a user role whom can edit a page I specify, add pages below that page and naturally I want them to be able to add pictures (which includes uploading new pictures). They would basically have control of a sub section of the site.

1. I created a new security role TestAdmin
2. I gave that role to a test id I play with
3. I created a new page and then gave edit permissions to role TestAdmin
4. I logged out, then back in as the test ID
5. Went to new page and I can edit it FINE, but if I try to upload an image, that option is NOT available. They also apparently are not able to add pages below that page.

If I give that test Id Admin rights then naturally they can upload images and add pages, but then they can edit ANY page and have full admin rights to entire site.

As I mentioned in original note, I guess I could do it as a child website, but it has no link back to parent site.

for file upload, you need to grant write permission per folder in Admin > File Manager.

For the exact same user, file upload works FINE if user has administrator rights, but NOT if the do NOT have administrator rights.

Do I need to give different directory rights to different level users????
