All,

I see a scheduled task under host called "Purge site log".  Will this delete old content data from my database?  If not, is there a recommended way to accomplish this?

Although I don't have a hard limit on database space, I don't want to leave outdated content in the database.  My goal is to proactively delete aged content.  For example, I'll give my users 5 or 10 edits for version tracking but don't wish to retain much prior to that.

Any advice is appreciated.

Thanks,

Mark

no, it just deletes the sitelog table data based on the days of retention you have set up e.g. if you only store 7 days of sitelog then it will delete entries older than that. If you're not using the sitelog then there is no need to enable that scheduled task.

regarding auto delete of aged content: HTML in DNN Community retains up to 5 versions only, besides there are no mechanisms to delete content automatically.
You should make sure, SiteLog, EventLog and ScheduleHistory get cleaned up on a regular basis, as well as your database transaction log gets truncated on frequent backups.
