Be aware that IP based country detection may lead to stupid results - I had an internet provider seated in Sweden, and some forum software indicated my posts as from Sweden, as even in Austria they used swedish IP ranges for their customers.

I am not an elk (and not even a kangaroo ;-))

we do update the definition file from time to time, but the free version is only ~90% accurate (the paid version is ~99% accurate apparently) - it works on who is the registered owner of the netblock, and from time to time these change hands (e.g. my ISP Virgin media UK acquired a netblock from a turkish ISP so briefly my IP was regarded as turkish)

it would be nice, if IP detection would be used in the DNN user registration as well (again)....
