I have the latest version of events installed (6.0.0) on DNN version 06.01.04 (127) and am trying to troubleshoot an issue with DST.

The server is hosted on what appears to be Pacific Time.

Portals are set to (GMT-06:00) Central Time (US & Canada)

Events settings are also Time Zone: (GMT-06:00) Central Time (US & Canada) , enable per event timezones is checked, and primary and secondary time zones are set to module.

When I create my events in CST time, and import them into google calendar using the Ical link my events are showing up an hour earlier. (i.e. event time in events is 6-7:30 pm CST, the google calendar is showing event at 5-6:30 CST.)

When I look at the ics file that is generated by the ical link I notice something is set to:

TZOFFSETFROM:-0600
TZOFFSETTO:-0500

I'm not sure why it is performing the TZOFFSETTO:-0500? That's where it's being set an hour earlier, and showing in goolge calendar wrong.

Do all the portals and sub portals have to have the same timezone set for the ical feature to export correctly?

Hi Justin,

No your sub portals shouldn't need to be in the same time zone. Feel free to mail me at webmaster @ the domain in my profile if you can give me host access to explore the problem.

Equally send me a link to the calendar with the problem.

You will find the TZOFFSET values are surround a BEGIN/END:DAYLIGHT (I think) which is then surrounded by a BEGIN/END:VTIMEZONE. These specify the daylight saving time information information for your timezone. CST had a DST change at 6am on the 11th March 2012.

I'm hoping I haven't got my logic wrong here...

Thanks
Roger

I have been debugging this with Justin.

This problem seems to stems from the fact that Google does not adhere to the ical spec RFC5545. I have posted the bug here - http://dnnevents.codeplex.com/workitem/22819

The fix will be in Events 6.0.1

Cheers
Roger
