All,

I created 2 modules a few months ago using VS 2010 and a CE install of DNN.  At the time it worked fine and I haven't touched this installation in at least 2 months.

When I tried to load the site, I'm getting bounced to the error page with the following message:

DotNetNuke Error

An error has occurred. An error has occurred.

Return to Site

I'm pretty sure the error involves at least one of my custom modules because I get an error on a different DNN installation when I install it there.  Not sure which of the two but it may be both.

Since I can't access the site through a browser, what can I do to troubleshoot this?

Thanks,

Mark

I think this has to do with the template I used for these 2 modules. It's the one Chris Hammond designed:

http://christoctemplate.codeplex.com/

It worked fine when I originally used it but I notice VS 2010 doesn't like something in my modules. The IDE is showing the squiggly lines under code where I'm setting text to a label, telling me it doesn't recognize the control.

Since it's been a while, I decided to download Chris' templates again and re-create the 2 modules. However, when I try to open a new project, I get the following error in VS 2010:

"The web application project WeatherModule is configured to use IIS. The web server "http://dnndev/desktopmodules/weathermodule" could not be found."

WeatherModules is the name I attempted to use for the project and I unchecked the check box titled "Create directory for solution".

Any ideas what I can do to get this working?

TIA,
Mark

Hi Mark,

Have you found the solutions? I am having the same problem.

Hugo,

Well, not really.

I recreated the module without the use of Chris' template. While the error went away, I'm experiencing the same issue from time to time and don't know the root cause.

Mark & Hugo, post the details of the error (it should be logged in the event viewer). Because your module is custom, at this point, nobody will have an idea of the problem into they have insight into the actual error.
